Make Holiday Plans with Dragonfly

Important Addendum: We neglected to include the date of the Open House in our original newsletter message! It’s Saturday, December 7th from 10-5 at our studio: 4104 Howard Avenue, Kensington, MD

Hello lovely Dragonflies, long-time customers and relatively new friends! We are heading into the final countdown (see what we did there? You are welcome:) toward our big transition. We have some exciting plans to share for the final few stops on our Farewell Tour.

First, believe it or not, we are having a Black Friday Sale! As you know, Lisa and Amy will keep many of our current yarns and most popular colors. Read below for a list of bases that will make the transition.  Meanwhile, we are putting the three soon-to-be Vintage yarn bases on sale at 25% off starting this Thursday at midnight: Selkie SportSquishy Lace, and Dharma. Sales are rare at Dragonfly, so do take advantage and stock up! This discount won’t be combined with the substantial discount we already offer for Limited Editions. In that case, the higher percentage will be offered. Please note, that all sales are final.

Speaking of Limited Editions, we have been going through the many bins and baskets full of yarn here in the studio and putting former exclusives and new “one hit wonders” on the website. Some of these colorways have been available only through your LYS or to Club Dragonfly members; some are the one-offs that we produce as we go along and some are trial colorways. Remember Pumpkin Head? So, even as we count down to the end of the year, we are putting new and new/old colorways up on the site all the time.

Ready for the list of tried and true colorways that Amy and Lisa will continue to dye? Drumroll, please…

We realize that your favorite colors may not have made the list. If there is a color that you simply must have, we can help! We are happy to dye any non-limited edition colorway for you, in the bases we still have in stock: Squishy, Pixie, Dragon, Djinni, and Valkyrie. We just ask that you order in multiples of three as that is how much we dye in one pot. If you are interested in ordering, please call us at 301-312-6883 or send an email to [email protected]. The final date for ordering custom dyed yarn will be Dec 3rd.

Dragonfly 2.0 will continue to carry these bases:
Pixie, Djinni, Dragon Sock, Damsel, Faerie, Traveller, Valkyrie, Super Traveller, and Dance Rustic Silk. They have lots of exciting plans for the next phase of the Dragonfly journey and can’t wait to meet you at our open house in a couple weeks.

We have so many festive plans for our Holiday Open House and final stop on the Farewell Tour. The party will take place at our studio (4106 Howard Avenue in Kensington) from 10 am to 5 pm. Parking is available across the street at Quality Tire. The lovely Michelle Stead of Crafty Flutterby Creations will be on hand with her gorgeous pins and adorable new End Minders (Bunny Hugs, anyone?).

Also at the Open House, we will be putting our knit and crochet samples up for sale. That’s right, after we claim our favorites and Lisa and Amy take the pieces that they are planning to continue to display, so many hats, and scarves, and mittens, and even shawls and sweaters will be available at very reasonable prices. Come share some holiday cheer, send us off in style, and finish your holiday shopping with us!

We will, of course, have a good selection of our yarns and spinning fibers available for sale. You should be aware, however, that Super Traveller inventory is extremely low. So, join us for the yarn and samples, drink a toast, eat some cake, and stay for the prizes. That’s right, we will be giving away random swag with purchase while supplies last.

Next up! Yard Sale weekend! Once Amy and Lisa have taken the equipment and furnishings they need, we are putting the rest up for sale the following weekend. In fact, we will have a list available at the Open House and items marked, so if you see something there that you would like to bring home, let us know. We are keeping a list. Then, we will be available from 9-3 on Saturday and Sunday the 14th and 15th in the studio for folks in the community to come by and shop. Our lease is up December 31st, so items will be priced to sell.

We will close this newsletter as we always do: with beautiful new patterns designed in Dragonfly by our dear friends and colleagues.

Brimmish Light and Cuffish Mittens by Sarah Schira in Dragonberry and Silver Fox in Dragon Sock (hat) and Valkyrie (mittens).
Candy Peel Hat and Mitts by Meg Roke in Beauty School Dropout and Mid-century Magnolia Pixie from Meg’s book Quilty Knits
